Random Dice 2 dice selection guide: roles and upgrade conditions

Game data v1.1.4

The best dice for a new account can differ from the best options for a developed co-op board. Content checked October 21, 2026 against 1.1.4 data. This role-based comparison is not a current competitive tier list supported by match statistics. Compare the same mode, tree investment, pips and SP level.

Wave-clear candidates

  • Fire: splash around the attacked target makes it a straightforward candidate for groups. Its usefulness still depends on damage upgrades and enemy positioning.
  • Electric: chain attacks provide coverage across multiple enemies. Compare its chain effect and SP scaling when ordinary attacks leave groups alive.
  • Gear Second: attacks the foremost three monsters, but requires its unlock and a developed Gear route. Its setup cost belongs in the comparison.

Boss and sustained-damage candidates

  • Armored: its boss-specific effect gives it a clear role when wave clear is already adequate.
  • Predator: damage grows with collected stacks. Range, kill collection and time to develop are part of its strength; base attack alone is not a useful ranking.
  • Gear: connected neighbors improve damage. A well-connected board and a scattered one should not be assigned the same expected performance.
  • Solar: repeated attacks on the same monster build its effect. Its normal activation depends on having 3, 5, 7 or 9 Solar dice; awakening changes that condition.

Development and support candidates

  • Growth: a probabilistic pip-development tool. Its base 40% success rate and 20-second cooldown become 54% and 6 seconds at SP level 15; relevant tree effects are separate.
  • Mine: supplies SP over time. It needs time and board space to return value, so compare it with the immediate damage you give up.
  • Light: improves adjacent dice attack speed. Positioning and the number of useful neighbors matter more than its own attack stat.
  • Switch: rearranges equal-pip dice in its ordinary form. Its value rises in layouts with strict adjacency or connection requirements.

How to use this comparison

Start with the role your deck is missing, then remove options whose conditions you cannot meet. A rare or expensive die does not automatically improve a deck whose core problem is setup. Recheck after changing modes or unlocking a rune that changes how a die works.

  • Compare wave clear and boss performance separately.
  • Record whether a recommendation assumes awakening, a specific rune or transcendence.
  • Use the dice reference for exact values and the tree planner for the complete cost before choosing your next investment.
